R6 2222 Fixed Window
The 2222 works especially well as a Daylighting Transom window placed in the stud space directly under the top plate high on the wall to bring daylight deep into the room or space you are designing and building.  The window depth helps to seasonally shade the window from summer sun, which is typically higher in the sky.  The daylight diffusing grid further provides desirable seasonal shading.   The R6 window has 5 panes enclosing 3/4" insulating airspaces.
22-1/4" x 22-1/4" x 3-1/2" unit size
U-value for whole window thermal conductance: .18 Btu/sf/degree F/hour
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) without grid: .61
The addition of the grid reduces the effective SHGC in response to solar orientation.  Current R&D seeks to quantify these seasonal benefits according to window compass orientation at a given site latitude.
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) without grid: 66%
3.5 square feet
